Research Design and Standards Organisation(RDSO) : Lucknow
Research Design and Standards Organization (Compact RDSO, Research and Standards Organization) is an ISO 9001 R & D organization under the Ministry of Railways, India, which serves as the Technical Advisor and Advisor for the Railway Board, Zonal Railway. With respect to the problems related to railway production units, RITES and IRCON International, the design and standardization of railway equipment and railway construction, operation and maintenance.
History
The Indian Railway Conference Association (IRCA) was established in 1903 to implement standardization and coordination among the various railway systems in British India. After this the design was developed in 1930 to establish the Central Standard Office (CSO). , Standards and specifications. However, till independence in 1947, most of the design and construction of railway equipment was assigned to foreign advisers. After independence, a new organization called Railway Testing and Research Center (RTRC) was established in Lucknow in 1952, for a thorough examination of the problems of railway, providing basic criteria and new concepts for testing prototype, prototype Helping in testing and generally finding solutions to specific problems. In 1957, the Central Standard Office (CSO) and Railway Testing and Research Center (RTRC) were designated under the Ministry of Railways in a design unit, which is the headquarters in the Standard Town, Lucknow. Status of RDSO was changed from "Attached Office" to "Zonal Railway" on January 1, 2003, so that it could promote greater flexibility and research and development activities.
Organization
The RDSO is headed by a Director General who ranks as the General Manager of a Zonal Railway. Current Director General M. Hussein. DG is assisted by an Additional Director General and 23 Senior Executive Directors and Executive Directors, who are in charge of 27 Directorate: Bridges and Structures, Center for Advanced Maintenance Technology (CAMTECH), Carriage, Geotechnical Engineering, Testing, Track Design, Medical , EMU and power supply, engine development, finance and accounting, telecommunications, quality assurance, personnel, works, psycho-tech Research, Signal, Wagon Design, Electric Locomotive, Store, Track Machine and Monitoring, Traction Installation, Energy Management, Traffic, Metallurgy and Chemicals, Motivational Power and Library and Publications. Except defense research, all the directorates are located in Lucknow.
